Recently described as a "dynamic artist and musical force in today's jazz world" by allaboutjazz.com and a "brilliant, intense" performer of jazz piano by KC Confidential, Michael Pagán has performed for over 30 years throughout the United States and in Europe with many jazz greats.
He appears regularly in the numerous jazz venues of Kansas City as a solo pianist, with his own trio, with vocalist Millie Edwards, and with Greg Carroll’s Midnight Blue Jazz Quartet.
As a composer/arranger Pagán has written over 150 works, mostly in the jazz idiom. His big band recording Pag’s Groove garnered international critical acclaim. In 2010 he released two recordings, Michael Pagán Trio Three for the Ages with bassist Bob Bowman and drummer Ray DeMarchi on Capri Records and 12 Preludes and Fugues for saxophone quartet, a work of over 70 minutes on Tapestry Records.
